Calvary Southampton is a young, growing family church, existing to “proclaim and live the Gospel". We love to see students getting involved and becoming part of the family, both through our student work and by engaging with the whole Church.
Worship and teaching
We express our love for God by learning from the Bible and applying it to our lives, by worshipping him and though service and outreach. Our style is modern and relaxed with a variety of new songs and old hymns. Our teaching is engaging and in-depth: we go through a book of the bible verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter.
Our main service is at 10:30am on Sundays at Great Oaks School. We also have a midweek meeting called ‘Chapter & Verse’, going through and looking at the key theme of each book in the Bible. There’s lots more going on: Christianity Explored, monthly Prayer and Praise meetings, men’s breakfasts and women’s pudding and prayer – please visit our website for more information.
Every month we run Sunday Night Live at Costa Coffee in Portswood. This is outreach through music and coffee and we encourage students to bring friends and to get involved in serving.
This year we are developing a Sunday evening programme for students and twenties. The month starts with our Sunday Night Live outreach, followed by a Bible study twice a month and a time of prayer and praise on the last Sunday of the month. This reflects what is most important: mission, the Bible and worship. We also offer students the chance to be ‘adopted’ by a family in the Church, who will provide spiritual support and advice, as well as plenty of food!
We meet at Great Oaks School, Vermont Close, Southampton, SO16 7LT. This is a 10 minute walk from Glen Eyre Halls and the U6 bus route also goes nearby. We also run a student bus from the Highfield Interchange at 10.10am – look out for our Calvary t-shirts!
